Discovering New Possibilities....

As many of you I'm sure have read, Max gave me one of the coolest gifts ever for my birthday last week. The NEW Wacom Intuos4 Professional Graphic Tablet. I really hadn't had a chance, until this week, to sit down and really get a feel for what it can do. Luckily, I just got a new logo project for a friend of mine and got the opportunity to show off my skillz (LOL!! that one's for you Jen).

Though the logo has not come to completion yet, but I wanted to share where we started out and where we've ended up as of this morning.

These are some of the initial samples I sent over based on my first impressions of what was wanted.

For those who don't know Alpenglow can be seen around sunset and provides those beautiful reds, pinks and blues on the mountains.

This is actually the 3rd proof I provided after some brief modifications, before I completely switched gears.

I did this sample yesterday, just intending to play around. After it was done, I decided that it would be fun to send it over to just for fun. As it turns out, they liked it and I just got done doing a new sketch based on some suggestions that came back.

The newest one incorporates thicker lines, deeper colors and more depth. Overall, I'm fairly happy with how this came out. It's not quite as simple or as clean as the original concepts but maybe it will provide some use. I'll have to wait and see what they say. It may be back to the drawing board but it's been a TON of fun in the process.

The two above renderings are based on a Mt. Sopris just outside of Glenwood Springs. Below is the photo that I've been using as a reference. The importance of this is that the business is located in the Roaring Fork Valley and Sopris is quite the landmark in that area.

Jenn, that looks fantastic! It may not be as clean or as simple - but it communicates the rugged nature of the landscape better than the other ones. Great job! And SUPER cool new toy!!!

I enjoyed seeing how the logo is evolving. I think you're really close to the final version & it is really looking good. Did they decide on that font as the final one? I know you love this creative process! When it is fun like this, hardly seems like work, does it?

I have a small watercolor of a mountain range bordering the San Luis Valley right where the Sand Dunes National Monument is. I'll have to show it to you!
