Living in the moment has been the secret to my happiness for several years now. Of course, there are times it's difficult to put into practice, or it actually helps to look forward to a better time, but in general, it's a wonderful way to live.

If one is to evolve, letting go of the past is a given and since we really don't have a clue about what comes next (also implicit with evolution) that leaves only each precious moment of the present to be lived to the fullest, loving those around us and being grateful for the life we have.

I *LOVE* the quote and both these comments are very true. Though I'd like to think the "moment" Buddha was referring to somewhat longer than some people tend to live by. The "moment" can be an hour or a day but it can also be a month or a year.

To achieve, learn, and grow we need to look forward and plan or be techered to growth only through experiential reactions ... this ability to project ourselves into situations (in reality or mentally) is what sets us apart from other intellegent creatures.
